Proper hygenic and environmental practices in dairy farms - TvAgro by Juan Gonzalo Angel

22:25
Twitter @juangangel Attention to hygiene will ensure high quality milk produced from healthy animals High quality raw milk for a satisfactory economical gain - is directly linked to healthy animals Maintaining a high standard of hygiene is one of today’s most important milk production objectives. The hygiene level directly influences the production’s economical result and dairies are enforcing this by steadily raising their quality requirements for raw milk. More importantly though, consumers are concerned about the safety of dairy products and the conditions under which these are produced. It is therefore critically important to ensure high quality raw milk can be produced from healthy animals under good hygienic conditions and that control measures are applied to protect human health. FROM COW TO CONSUMER Legal requirements for safety, quality and production conditions are currently enforced in many countries. European (EU) directives (89/362/EEC and 92/46/EEC) specify that raw milk must come from healthy animals and infectious diseases or foreign substances that are communicable to human beings through milk, should not endanger human health. Furthermore the equipment, tools and conditions under which milk is produced must fulfil certain minimum requirements. Milk’s content must also meet specified hygienic standards in terms of bacterial and somatic cell numbers present. New EU regulations are in preparation to replace the aforementioned and to cover foodstuffs in general through the whole chain, from primary production to the consumer. Another reason for such regulations is to facilitate trade of milk and dairy products. In accordance with legislation and driven by demands for efficient production of high quality products with trace-ability - dairies are now increasingly placing stronger demands on the quality of raw milk. New schemes are being successively introduced with stronger demands for differential payment of milk according to its quality. High somatic cell counts and residuals are strongly emphasised within these schemes. Additionally, the frequency of collecting bulk milk samples for analyses is increasing to meet rising safety, quality and trace-ability demands. Consequently, it is extremely important for the milk producer to assure the best hygiene within production. Producing consistently high quality raw milk for a satisfactory economical gain - is directly linked to healthy animals and low veterinary treatment costs. FROM FEED TO BULK MILK TANK The final quality of dairy products offered to the consumer, is determined by characteristics of the whole process - from the animal’s feed production to the consumer’s table. Barn environments Cotton towels were found to be superior to paper towels for reducing bacterial and spore counts in milk. Cleaning for 20 seconds was shown to be 50 per cent more efficient than cleaning for six seconds. One towel should be used per cow per milking. Cotton towels should be cleaned between milking sessions - preferably in a washing machine. Results from studies with the DeLaval Voluntary Milking System (VMS ) - show that automatic teat cleaning using the system’s specific teat-cleaning device, removes almost all spores from the teats. Formulating Diets for Groups of Lactating Cows

37:38
Formulating accurate diets for lactating dairy cows requires users to input body weight, milk production, milk composition and perhaps other factors such as days in milk and parity. If you are only feeding one cow, those numbers are easy to get, but if you are formulating for a group of cows, what numbers should you use? Alternatives to Milk - Dairy part 2

08:15
alternatives and exceptions to milk and dairy In part 1 - I talked about problems from conventional pasteurized and homogenized dairy is for everyone including those who are not lactose intolerant. The most important rule as in any health information is to listen to your own body. Understanding what makes you tired, gassy, achy, depressed, lose sleep or any other unnatural disruption outside of getting energy and mental clarity from what you eat are all important messages for you to override anything that you hear is healthy for you. So listen to your body first and foremost. ------------------------- Visit Bill Farr on 🌺 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theartofunity/ 🌺 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theartofunity 🌺 Twitter https://twitter.com/BillyFarr 🌺 Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/TheArtofUnity/ 🌺 Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Theartofunity 💜 SUBSCRIBE on Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/c/theartofunity?sub_confirmation=1 ------------------------ Raw Milk 1 cup of raw pasture raised organic raw milk has been shown to have even more probiotics in it than commercial yogurt. Raw milk is said to offer benefits for skin, hair and nails, immunity, reduced allergies, bone density, weight loss and muscle gain. It contains minerals Fat Soluble Vitamins A, D, and K2, Short Chain Fatty Acids, CLA and Omega-3’s. CLA fights cancer and helps reduce body fat. Eating raw also eliminates the dangerous effects of Pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, the effects of pasteurization and homogenization, as I talked about in part 1. And it also has probiotics but especially when used for raw organic homemade Kefir or yogurt, (not commercial) and raw organic Cheese. I only suggest it for those who insist on drinking pasteurized milk, but another reason I don’t like it and the reason people do insist is because it has natural opioids in it, which is why you can become addicted to dairy products like cheese and milk and the addictive aspect can disrupt your immunity. Now other ALTERNATIVES to drinking milk are: Coconut milk, Almond Milk and hemp milk- see my video on how to make all of these For an ice cream supplement see my video for that see more at the blog at www.theartofunity.com Kefir Health Benefits Proven By Medical Studies (kefir is acid neutral unlike milk) 1. This Dairy Cow Just Wouldn’t Stop Crying So Her Owner Visited Her Old Farm To Uncover The Truth

Please do not forget to visit the site http://scribol.com contact us at:[email protected] http://watchjojo.com ************************************************************** In the United States, milk is big business. In 2016 around 96 million metric tons of the calcium-rich liquid were produced in the country. And a recent survey discovered that more than half of the American public choose dairy products when it comes to getting their protein. In order to keep up with demand, milk production is therefore on the rise. Indeed, as of February 2017, there were more than 40,000 licensed dairy farms in the U.S. And for the seventh year in a row, these businesses produced more milk than they had done the previous year. Of these dairy farms, 99 percent are owned and managed by families. This means that multiple generations are able to grow up watching, and learning about, where their food comes from. But while that’s fine for many humans, for some of the cattle it’s a different story. ************************************************************** ►Image credits: Image: The Gentle Barn https://goo.gl/CyDx6F Image: Tookapic https://goo.gl/1EVMkt Image: Stijn te Strake https://goo.gl/JYCmzz Image: Pezibear https://goo.gl/CiktM4 Image: Kat Smith https://goo.gl/g4W8wk Image: Facebook/Ellie Laks https://goo.gl/mb9iMs Image: Jenny Hill https://goo.gl/oKMvkT ►web: http://watchjojo.com ► SUBSCRIBE US: https://goo.gl/Z4nZcg ► Follow Us On Google Plus: https://goo.gl/JYf9Rr ► Like us Our Facebook Page: https://goo.gl/C5Rv92 ► Follow On Twitter: https://goo.gl/PZ2U1R ►For more articles visit: http://scribol.com ►reference:https://goo.gl/t4sCiZ #watchjojo

A dairy is typically located on a dedicated dairy farm or in a section of a multi-purpose farm (mixed farm) that is concerned with the harvesting of milk. Terminology differs between countries. For example, in the United States, an entire dairy farm is commonly called a "dairy". The building or farm area where milk is harvested from the cow is often called a "milking parlor" or "parlor". The farm area where milk is stored in bulk tanks is known as the farm's "milk house". Milk is then hauled (usually by truck) to a "dairy plant" = also referred to as a "dairy" - where raw milk is further processed and prepared for commercial sale of dairy products. In New Zealand, farm areas for milk harvesting are also called "milking parlours", and are historically known as "milking sheds". As in the United States, sometimes milking sheds are referred to by their type, such as "herring bone shed" or "pit parlour". Parlour design has evolved from simple barns or sheds to large rotary structures in which the workflow (throughput of cows) is very efficiently handled. In some countries, especially those with small numbers of animals being milked, the farm may perform the functions of a dairy plant, processing their own milk into salable dairy products, such as butter, cheese, or yogurt. This on-site processing is a traditional method of producing specialist milk products, common in Europe. In the United States a dairy can also be a place that processes, distributes and sells dairy products, or a room, building or establishment where milk is stored and processed into milk products, such as butter or cheese. In New Zealand English the singular use of the word dairy almost exclusively refers to a corner shop, or superette. This usage is historical as such shops were a common place for the public to buy milk products. As an attributive, the word dairy refers to milk-based products, derivatives and processes, and the animals and workers involved in their production: for example dairy cattle, dairy goat. A dairy farm produces milk and a dairy factory processes it into a variety of dairy products. These establishments constitute the global dairy industry, a component of the food industry.

"Singing Farmer" Wisconsin's Cow Barn Caruso

02:55
For a FREE issue of Farm Show Magazine, go to http://www.farmshow.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/FARMSHOWMagazine Twitter: http://twitter.com/FarmShow There's probably no better known farmer in North America than Bob Parrish, who's recently been featured in magazine and news-paper articles and has appeared on numerous TV shows. The Fennimore, Wis., dairy farmer is billed as America's "Singing Farmer", with a high baritone voice and a two octave range (A flat to A flat) that he says is better than Luciano Pavorotti's. "That's a boast, not a lie. I never lie," says Parrish, 74, who recently completed a three-month, 6,000-mile promotional swing through the Midwest and South giving away free cassette tapes of himself and making public appearances. The tour came 30 years after his promising vocal career was put on hold by an untimely personal tragedy. In the mid 1960's, after two years of commuting from his farm to Chicago for formal training, the singer was poised for stardom. He had been a featured soloist at Chicago's McCormick Place and was invited to sing at New York's Carnegie Hall. That's when his wife of 23 years, Edna, died unexpectedly of a cerebral hemorrhage. She was 47. He was 42. After that, Parrish stayed pretty much on the farm to raise his two young daughters, milk 150 cows, and farm 400 acres. He per-formed occasionally at such events as the World Dairy Expo and various farm shows around the country, but reserved most of his singing for his cows. "Some newspapers have reported my singing increases milk production," he says. "I can't say that I ever noticed a difference. All I know is that they all used to push their ears forward when I sang." His repertoire includes gospels, oldies, patriotic songs and, of course, opera. "English-speaking cows prefer any of the former three styles, while Italian-speaking cows prefer the latter," Parrish jokes. After an "On The Road" piece by Charles Kuralt of CBS last summer, Chicago TV station WGN asked Parrish to sing on the air. "I told them I had to get the corn harvested first," says Parrish, who eventually appeared on Oct. 29. "When I asked them what they wanted me to wear, they told me to come straight from the field." By then, Parrish had sold his cows and farm and was kicking off his tour in his Lincoln Town Car, pulling a 17-ft. travel trailer. The tour gained him a lot of press attention. While Parrish is a master of self-promotion, there's something else he's trying to promote as well. "I can be a product of great value to the American farmer by promoting the industry through my voice," he says. #inventions #farmInventions #shopinventions #newinventions #coolinventions #farmMagazine #FarmShow #homemadeinventions #agriculture #farm #farming #farmingTips #farmFun #farmequipment #tractors #DoItYourself #farmtips #shoptips #farmmachinery #harvesting #combines #farmTractor #Ag #Horticulture

The End of Animal Farming | Jacy Reese | TEDxUniversityofMississippi

Clean meat — real meat made from animal cells without animal slaughter — and social solutions informed by breakthroughs and historical successes will eventually allow for an ethical and efficient food system where slaughterhouses are obsolete. “Many books and articles have documented how animal agriculture devastates public health, the environment, and animal welfare. Experts predict that the future of food is vegan. But readers and listeners are left with one burning question: How do we actually get from here to there?” I'm a social scientist currently working on my first book, "The End of Animal Farming." I sometimes write articles in outlets such as in Huffington Post and Vox, and I've given talks in 15 different countries on the topics of effective altruism, animal protection, and food ethics. I'm the Research Director at Sentience Institute, a nonprofit, effective altruism think tank launched in June 2017 focused on expanding humanity's moral circle. We're not currently hiring, but I'm always excited to explore new research collaborations. I live in Brooklyn with my partner Kelly, our dog Apollo, and our two chickens Snow and Dualla, who were rescued from battery cage farms. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Optimizing Production by Managing How Dairy Cows Eat

40:44
Despite many advances in the nutritional management of dairy cows, we know that dry matter intake is not always maximized, nor is the way feed is consumed always ideal for the cow. In this dairy video, you can learn about the role that feeding behavior has on ensuring dairy cow health and productivity, including how, when, and what cows eat of the feed provided to them. Dr. DeVries will also discuss how we use that knowledge to evaluate feeding systems, including the management of feed and the feeding area. Strategies may then be implemented that allow cattle to have good access to the feed provided to them, and consume it in manner which is conducive to good health, productivity, and welfare.
