Ukraine International Boeing 737-500 Winglets (!) Frankfurt to Kiev [AirClips full flight series]

08:43
Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), CJSC (Ukrainian: Приватне акціонерне товариство «Авіакомпанія Міжнародні Авіалінії України» (МАУ), Aviakompaniya Mizhnarodni Avialiniyi Ukrayiny, [ˌɑwijɑkɔmˈpɑɲijɑ miʒnɑˈrɔdni ˌɑwijɑˈʎiɲiji ukrɑˈjɪnɪ]) is the flag carrier and the largest airline of Ukraine, based in Kiev and its Boryspil Airport. It operates scheduled domestic and international passenger flights and cargo services to Europe, Middle East, US and Asia. The airline was established on 1 October 1992, and started operations on 25 November 1992 with a Kyiv-London flight. It was one of the first "joint ventures with foreign capital" in Ukraine and the first airline in the former Soviet Union to use new Boeing 737 aircraft. The founding shareholders were the Ukrainian Association of Civil Aviation and Guinness Peat Aviation (GPA), an Irish aircraft-leasing company. In 1996, Austrian Airlines and Swissair became shareholders, investing US$9 million in new equity. The airline began cargo operations with an Boeing737-200 aircraft on 13 November 1994 to London and Amsterdam, and today operates a Boeing 737-300F as a dedicated aircraft for freight operations. In 2000, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development became a shareholder by investing $5.4 million. In 2006 UIA adopted a new classification system for freight operations which allowed the airline to carry a wider range of goods, ranging from live animals to fresh food and valuable objects. Additionally, an express service was introduced to meet the needs of customers wishing to make use of expedited cargo delivery services. In February 2011, the Ukrainian government sold its 61,6% stake in UIA to three existing minority shareholders for Hr.287 million ($36.2 million). As of 26 July 2013, the airline was owned by Ukraine-based Capital Investment Project LLC (74%) and Cyprus-based Ontobet Promotions Limited (26%). In the first half of 2013, the airline's traffic rose by 60% to 2,200,000 passengers. According to the company's president Yuriy Myroshnikov, the UIA plans to achieve the same 2013 yearly results (i.e. to reach yearly traffic of 4,400,000). Ukraine International Airlines began non-stop flights from Kiev to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City on the 25th of April, 2014. The Boeing 737 Classic is the name given to the -300/-400/-500 series of the Boeing 737 after the introduction of the -600/700/800/900 series. The Classic series was originally introduced as the 'new generation' of the 737. Produced from 1984 to 2000, 1,988 aircraft were delivered. There were 1,945 in service in January 2001.The 737-500 was launched in 1987 by Southwest Airlines and entered service in 1990. The fuselage length of the 737-500 is similar to that of the 737-200, while incorporating the improvements of the 737 Classic series. It offered a modern and direct replacement of the 737-200, while also allowing longer routes with fewer passengers to be more economical than with the 737-300. The 389th and last -500 was delivered to All Nippon Airways on July 26, 1999.

Attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to Ukraine, Rostyslav Averchuk

15:19
Interview with Rostyslav Averchuk, PhD. Candidate, Lviv University of Trade and Economics, Guest editor VoxUkraine, Lviv, Ukraine, 20 August 2017. - Financial Times printed a misleading article on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Ukraine. The authors claimed that Russia's military invasion of Ukraine is the primary obstacle that prevents attracting FDI. Prior to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, most of Ukraine's FDI was not of foreign origin, but rather Ukrainian and/or Russian capital masked by creating special purpose entities in tax havens such as Cyprus, British Virgin Islands, Belize, etc., - 1:45 Avoid too much optimism and exercise caution - 2:22 No clear pattern or trend of FDI in Ukraine since independence - 3:25 Most FDI came into Ukraine's banking sector in the form of recapitalization of banks that already existed, i.e. new flows of capital to continue operating - 3:50 European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) - 4:02 Low FDI in Ukraine for 2017 - 4:43 Risk factor of Russia in Ukraine - 5:19 Ukraine has avoided becoming a failed state; GDP has begun to grow, reserves have grown, inflation under control, currency exchange has stabilized; sound policies of Ukraine's central bank; Naftogaz (Нафтогаз України) is managed well - 7:21 Investors have become less pessimistic about the investment climate in Ukraine - 8:15 Impact of free trade agreements on foreign direct investment - 8:55 Foreign investors from France, Japan, e.g. Fujikura (株式会社フジクラ), have invested by opening large factories in Western Ukraine - 9:35 General feeling in Ukraine that the country has changed its direction and moving forward - 10:17 Privatization of state owned enterprises in Ukraine: the government has not developed a strategy of maximizing the value of state assets to make them more attractive to foreign investors - 11:25 More qualified people required in government http://www.voxukraine.org/2017/02/02/investments-in-ukraine-en/ This video was not sponsored Video by UkeTube Ukrainian Video

UnCommon Core | Human Capital Investment, Inequality, and Growth

01:02:16
Recently the seeming permanence of the rise of earnings inequality has motivated policy proposals to mitigate its impact, including more progressive income taxation, wealth and inheritance taxes, and pay regulation. In this UnCommon Core, economist Kevin Murphy argues that most of these treat the symptom rather than the disease. Instead he suggests a focus on the supply side, where the human capital choices of individuals and families affect the skill composition of the labor force. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/UCHICAGOytSubscribe About #UChicago: A destination for inquiry, research, and education, the University of Chicago empowers scholars to challenge conventional thinking. Russia: Investment pouring into Ukraine is bluff says Pushkov

01:52
Promises that investment will "pour into Ukraine" is a "bluff" from Kiev, said Alexei Pushkov, head of the Russian State Duma's Foreign Affairs Committee in Moscow, Thursday. The Russian statesman added that Ukrainian economists share the same view, given the dire financial situation of the country. Pushkov elaborated that the EU would soon realise that Ukraine is not the "vibrating democracy the Western media reported." He went on to call Ukraine "a state in a deep crisis, tied with ultra-nationalist ideas." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To use this footage please contact the Ruptly Client Desk: [email protected] Video ID: 20150423-084 ---------------------------------- Twitter: http://twitter.com/Ruptly VK: https://vk.com/ruptlytv Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/Ruptly LiveLeak: http://www.liveleak.com/c/Ruptly Vine: https://vine.co/Ruptly Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/Ruptly Google Plus: http://google.com/+RuptlyTV YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/RuptlyTV DailyMotion: http://www.dailymotion.com/ruptly Video on Demand: http://www.ruptly.tv

Ukraine/Kiev (Sightseeing Kiev City) Part 14

08:41
Welcome to my travelchannel. On my channel you can find almost 1000 films of more than 70 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/user/nurettinodunya/playlists Kiev,Kyiv: Kiev is the capital and largest city of Ukraine, located in the north central part of the country on the Dnieper River. The population in July 2015 was 2,887,974 (though higher estimated numbers have been cited in the press), making Kiev the 8th most populous city in Europe.Kiev is an important industrial, scientific, educational, and cultural centre of Eastern Europe. It is home to many high-tech industries, higher education institutions and world-famous historical landmarks. The city has an extensive infrastructure and highly developed system of public transport, including the Kiev Metro. The city's name is said to derive from the name of Kyi, one of its four legendary founders (see Name, below). During its history, Kiev, one of the oldest cities in Eastern Europe, passed through several stages of great prominence and relative obscurity. The city probably existed as a commercial centre as early as the 5th century. A Slavic settlement on the great trade route between Scandinavia and Constantinople, Kiev was a tributary of the Khazars, until seized by the Varangians (Vikings) in the mid-9th century. Under Varangian rule, the city became a capital of the Kievan Rus', the first East Slavic state. Completely destroyed during the Mongol invasion in 1240, the city lost most of its influence for the centuries to come. It was a provincial capital of marginal importance in the outskirts of the territories controlled by its powerful neighbours; first the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, followed by Poland and Russia. The city prospered again during the Russian Empire's Industrial Revolution in the late 19th century. In 1917, after the Ukrainian National Republic declared independence from the Russian Empire, Kiev became its capital. From 1919 Kiev was an important center of the Armed Forces of South Russia and was controlled by the White Army. From 1921 onwards Kiev was a city of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, which was proclaimed by the Red Army, and, from 1934, Kiev was its capital. During World War II, the city again suffered significant damage, but quickly recovered in the post-war years, remaining the third largest city of the Soviet Union.Following the collapse of the Soviet Union and Ukrainian independence in 1991, Kiev remained the capital of Ukraine and experienced a steady migration influx of ethnic Ukrainians from other regions of the country. During the country's transformation to a market economy and electoral democracy, Kiev has continued to be Ukraine's largest and richest city. Kiev's armament-dependent industrial output fell after the Soviet collapse, adversely affecting science and technology. But new sectors of the economy such as services and finance facilitated Kiev's growth in salaries and investment, as well as providing continuous funding for the development of housing and urban infrastructure. Kiev emerged as the most pro-Western region of Ukraine where parties advocating tighter integration with the European Union dominate during elections. Geography:Geographically, Kiev belongs to the Polesia ecological zone (a part of the European mixed woods). However, the city's unique landscape distinguishes it from the surrounding region. Kiev is located on both sides of the Dnieper River, which flows south through the city towards the Black Sea. The older right-bank (western) part of the city is represented by numerous woody hills, ravines and small rivers. It is a part of the larger Dnieper Upland adjoining the western bank of the Dnieper in its mid-flow. Kiev expanded to the Dnieper's lowland left bank (to the east) only in the 20th century. Significant areas of the left-bank Dnieper valley were artificially sand-deposited, and are protected by dams. The Dnieper River forms a branching system of tributaries, isles, and harbors within the city limits. The city is adjoined by the mouth of the Desna River and the Kiev Reservoir in the north, and the Kaniv Reservoir in the south. Both the Dnieper and Desna rivers are navigable at Kiev, although regulated by the reservoir shipping locks and limited by winter freeze-over. In total, there are 448 bodies of open water within the boundaries of Kiev, which include Dnieper itself, its reservoirs, and several small rivers, dozens of lakes and artificially created ponds. They occupy 7949 hectares of territory. Additionally, the city boasts of 16 developed beaches (totalling 140 hectares) and 35 near-water recreational areas (covering more than 1000 hectares). Many are used for pleasure and recreation, although some of the bodies of water are not suitable for swimming.Wikipedia

VAT Refund in Ukraine - Capital Series - 24 Oct 2015

19:54
VAT refund in Ukraine. "Selectivity, non-transparency, bad timing – that is what VAT is. As time passed, value added tax in Ukraine has got a role of the most corrupted tax. After a tax reform was implemented, the usual problems were complicated by “transitional period” obstacles. The business complains about e-administration’s improper work and automatic refund system mass-scale shutdowns. F.e., innovations that were aimed to exclude human factor and to easy up entrepreneurs’ life appeared to be new challenges. Nevertheless, the biggest problem of VAT in Ukraine is debt. The tax service “shrugs its shoulders” – money cannot be returned to business because of limits included in the budget. Nevertheless, experienced lawyers highlight the tendency – those who openly demand, through courts, in particular – still get what they are supposed to get by law. Those who stay silent – remain empty-handed. This is Capital, and our today’s topic – VAT refund."

UnCommon Core | The Causes and Consequences of the Ukraine Crisis with John Mearsheimer

01:14:16
John J. Mearsheimer, the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor in Political Science and Co-director of the Program on International Security Policy at the University of Chicago, assesses the causes of the present Ukraine crisis, the best way to end it, and its consequences for all of the main actors. A key assumption is that in order to come up with the optimum plan for ending the crisis, it is essential to know what caused the crisis. Regarding the all-important question of causes, the key issue is whether Russia or the West bears primary responsibility. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/UCHICAGOytSubscribe About #UChicago: A destination for inquiry, research, and education, the University of Chicago empowers scholars to challenge conventional thinking.
