5 Steps to Simple Data Visualization for Nonprofits

03:38
Data visualization is an effective way to communicate your nonprofits impact because humans are able to process images 60,000x faster than we can process text. Thus, images are a powerful tool while conveying your nonprofits message. You will learn: -how to make data visualizations on Google Sheets -how to choose the right type of graph -how to customize and organize a more effective visualization -how to embed and use this interactive data viz We know that it is not always the most accessible thing to for non-coders, but luckily, we have found a simple way for data viz using Google Sheets, which makes it extremely simple, accessible, and easy to update. 1. Use the right type of graph (01:03) What’s your goal with the viz? Is it to highlight relationships or to show composition? Nailing down these questions will help you decide on which graph to use. Here are the options on Google Sheets, and how we would recommend using them: Gauge chart: show goal and progress Map: show breadth of your programs Motion chart: emphasize progress/growth over time 2. Organize and clean (01:39) After choosing your graph type, Google Sheets will generate that chart for you, but all its features may not be relevant in your situation. Some questions that you may want to ask during this stage include: Are background lines necessary? Does the sorting order make sense? Remove or sort things more clearly to match your needs after answering these questions. 3. Format labels and legends (02:09) The next step is to go in even closer and edit the labels and legends so that people can better understand what exactly the chart is showing. This is the stage that you should: Add title and name of axis Remove legend if necessary 4. Customize design (02:22) Although Google Sheets does not have the best tools to manipulate the colors since there is not a custom option, you can get pretty close by trying to match your colors to the palette provided. 5. Publish and embed (02:43) Now just publish this graph on Google Sheets. Once you've done that, you can copy the embed code and paste it onto your site. Embedding the interactive graph is the same process as embedding a Youtube video, so it's You can assemble these graphs together and tie them with a narrative to show the impact that your nonprofit has made. Get out there are start making some awesome graphs to show off your great work! ------- Whole Whale is a digital agency that leverages data and technology to increase the impact of nonprofits. Google updates Pixel 2 XL with the new 'saturated' color visualization option and other bug fixes

01:36
The company has done more than add the usual security fixes. For Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, it also overlays a lot of bug fixes and new features. The most important of which, as Android Central reports, are new options for color saturation. It also contains a solution for the weak click noise heard in some Pixel 2s, as well as subtle changes in the behavior of the Pixel 2 XL screen to mitigate possible screen burns, although these latter changes may not be obvious in the use normal This update also brings planned UI changes that extend the life of the OLED screen, including a fade-out navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen and an upgrade to maximum brightness. These features have been carefully designed so as not to detract from the user's experience. Since all OLED screens experience a certain degree of deterioration over time, we will continue to make improvements that maximize the useful life of your Pixel screen. Currently, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have a single button under the screen settings for vivid colors there is apparently a new set of three different options in both models: enhanced, natural and saturated. Android Central reports that even this saturated configuration does not suddenly make the Pixel 2 XL's colors too shrill, suggesting that Google's intentions are to keep the Pixel 2 XL looking accurate rather than nice and unnatural

Use a Dropdown to Switch between Charts

17:06
Check out my Blog: http://exceltraining101.blogspot.com If you've got a table to show different views of a data series, you might want to show it one at a time. For example you may want to compare the sales, costs and profits of different items, but not all at the same time. Instead of creating three separate charts, you have a drop down for selection and it will show the respective view of your data. See the video to learn how to use a drop down combo box form control to switch between different charts in your worksheet. #exceltips #exceltipsandtricks #exceltutorial #doughexcel --------------------- Excel Training: https://www.exceltraining101.com/p/training.html Excel Books: https://www.amazon.com/shop/dough

HTML5 Graphing and Data Visualization: Chapter 7

12:31
http://02geek.com/books/html5-graphics-and-data-visualization-cookbook.html Depending on the Open Source Sphere In this chapter we will cover: Animating a gauge meter (jqPlot) Creating an animated 3D chart (canvas3DGraph) Charting over time (flotJS) Building a clock with RaphaelJS Making a sunburst chart with InfoVis The open source data visualization community is extremely rich and detailed with many options and some really amazing libraries. Each library has its strong points and its disadvantages. Some are standalone codes while other depend on other platforms such as Jquery. Some are really big, and some are really small—there isn't one option that is perfect for all opportunities, but with such a rich amount of options the most important thing is to figure out what library is the right one for you. There is always a given way when working with open source libraries, mainly when it comes to file sizes and having just too much features that drag down the speed of your application, load time, and so on. But with the richness and creativeness of the community, it's hard to avoid really fantastic charts that can be created in minutes instead of hours. In this chapter we will explore working with some of these options. Instead of using the libraries according to the documentation of the projects, our goal will be to find ways to override the built-in libraries to enable us a better control over our applications in case we can't find a suitable solution in the documentation of an application. So, the goal in this chapter is now doubled—to find ways to do things that aren't naturally set to work and to find ways to bypass problems. One more important thing to note is that all of these open source libraries have copy rights. It is advised that you check the legal documentation of the project before you go ahead with it.

Excel Dynamic Chart with Drop down List (column graph with average line)

08:09
Learn how to create an interactive chart in Excel that switches views depending on the selection from the drop-down list. In addition to creating dynamic chart ranges, I also show you how to create combo or combination charts in Excel. In this specific example, I show you how to add a horizontal average line to your column chart. This makes it simple to compare the values of the bars not just with one another but also with the average. The key to dynamic charts is to create a data preparation table that sits between your raw data and your chart. Smart Excel formulas help you do this dynamically. In this example, I use the Index and Match formula for data preparation. 🡻 Download the workbook here: http://www.xelplus.com/excel-dynamic-chart-with-drop-down/ Links to related videos: Index Match Basics: https://youtu.be/F264FpBDX28 Excel Charts Basics: https://youtu.be/DAU0qqh_I-A ★ My Online Excel Courses ► https://courses.xelplus.com/ ✉ Subscribe & get my TOP 10 Excel formulas e-book for free https://www.xelplus.com/free-ebook/ EXCEL RESOURCES I Recommend: https://www.xelplus.com/resources/ Get Office 365: https://microsoft.msafflnk.net/15OEg Microsoft Surface: https://microsoft.msafflnk.net/c/1327040/451518/7593 GEAR Camera: https://amzn.to/2FLiFho Screen recorder: http://techsmith.pxf.io/c/1252781/347799/5161 Microphone: https://amzn.to/2DVKstA Lights: http://amzn.to/2eJKg1U Note: This description contains affiliate links, which means at no additional cost to you, we will receive a small commission if you make a purchase using the links. Search Console Helper: Features - Data Visualization

02:02
Search Console Helper is a PC SEO tool that extends the capability of Google Search Console with more data, advanced filtering options and the ability to keep historical data beyond 90 days. Download your fully functioning version for FREE at: http://searchconsolehelper.com/ This video explains the visualization options of Search Console Helper. You can read the full description of all features at: http://searchconsolehelper.com/features/ Video transcript: Hi! In this video, I will show you the visualization options of Search Console Helper. What you are looking at are the data for the website registrierkassen-test.info and we have selected to view all the data, which means from June 2016 all the way to January 2017. You can see all the indicators from Google Search Console: Clicks, Impressions, Click-Through Rate and Positions. You can, of course, check any of them and uncheck any combination of the four. The totals are displayed on the left side. Clicks, impressions, CTR and position. The default view is by day. And, you can of course view data by week or data by month. These options allow you to work with the data at the level that is the best for you. So, if you want to see by day changes, analyze rankings, positions, and clicks on a daily basis, it's the day view. If you want to see trends on a weekly basis, you select the week view. Be careful that the last week may not be the full week displayed, which is why the indicators go down And, if you want to see on a monthly basis, that's the month view. In the next video, I will be talking more about the actual data set.
