Why College is so Expensive: I’m a lucky guy. I didn’t do so well in high school and didn’t meet the requirements to go to university right off the bat. Instead, I went to Community College, lived at home, worked a part time job, and saved a sh*t load of money. Afterwards I went to a public University and saved even more money. I graduated during a huge recession without debt thanks to my privileged circumstances which allowed me to think less about the money I’d earn after college and more about my interests. That being said, tuition to even state Universities has increased dramatically since I graduated - making the once realistic American dream seem a distant memory for many of us youngsters. Music: Mono:Massive - Attila My Mic: http://amzn.to/2mj7P3j Subscribe To My Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoFWz1e3VXKOoJ-E5cep1Eg Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Thought.Monkey.Community/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thought.monkey/ Just how expensive is college? The website Collegedata.com states that one year at a public University will cost on average roughly $25,000 while at a private University it will cost $50,000. This hasn’t always been the case. From 1984 to 2014 tuition for public universities has increased 225%. And to make matters more daunting, only 19% of students actually graduate at a “4” year university within 4 years – making the majority graduating within 5 or 6 years. And while tuition goes up and it takes longer for students to graduate, on average it takes longer for college grads to earn back what they’ve spent on tuition which on average is at 36 years old. Moreover college grads has been earning less and less over the past 10 years while the cost of college is skyrocketing. But why? High education is just like a business. In fact some say that the U.S. Department of Education makes $15 billion dollars in profit from student loans every year. If students stopped taking out loans and going to college, our economy might just collapse. Universities want to attract students, just like businesses want to attract customers. To do this need to hire the best professors who can conduct research in the most up to date and technologically advanced labs. This is not cheap. The average salary for a professor is $100,000. A lab? Probably a lot more expensive than that. Universities also need to have beautifully built campuses. Again not cheap. Not only do the buildings need to be architecturally aesthetic, but the grounds need to be taken care of and the buildings maintained. Universities also must have attractive amenities like career services, health centers, and even psychiatric availability. All of this costs a sh*t load of money and creates a load of competition between the universities. Consider it like an arms race education style. But that’s not all. In order to pay for such expenses, universities create high tuition and use financial aid to help those who can’t afford it on their own and take as much as possible to those that can afford it. This is called the Bennett Hypothesis – our government provides loans and financial aid to students, and colleges get their money whether it’s from students who take out loans, get financial aid, or can pay for it out of pocket. If schools know that students have more money to spend, they can raise tuition, and make their campuses more attractive to potential students, which causes more competition between schools. So when the government is providing subsidies for its citizens to go to college –there is more demand for education now that more and more people can afford to go to college – and this in turn encourages colleges to charge more for education and they can increase their marketability by spending that money on professors, campus beautification or improved amenities. The real question however is - is college worth it? That I cannot answer. But I will say that going to college has made me widen my perspective and allowed me to pursue ideas that I probably wouldn’t have if I had not gone. College is about your education and an investment that will last you a lifetime. The only answer I can give you is to think about what you are passionate about and do it. If you don’t need a college degree to pursue your passion, don’t go. But if you think college will enrich your life and help you obtain mastery in your passion, then go.

When you’re making $40,000 a year in a high cost of living city, staring down a $30,000 student loan bill, the thought of setting money aside for some day after age 59.5 seems kind of crazy. That is until you consider the cost of NOT investing. According to MSN Money – Someone who puts $4,000 a year into retirement accounts starting at age 22 can have $1 million by age 62, assuming 8% average annual returns. But if they wait just 10 years to start contributing to their retirement accounts, starting at age 32, they’d have to put in more than twice as much – $8,800 a year – to reach the same goal. In other words, the younger you start investing, the more you can reap the benefits of compounding and long-term market gains. Your most valuable investment asset isn’t money – it’s time. Now I know that thinking about dollars supporting some distant retirement future can seem pretty intangible when you’re a 20 something living paycheck to paycheck – so try thinking about it this way. Every dollar you earn through your investments, is a dollar you don’t have to earn at your job. How many years of work can you shave off of your future by setting even small amounts of money aside today?

Website: https://primedlifestyle.com/ Instagram: Primed Video Breakthrough Academy by Clark Kegley on Clickbank - http://189562j1paygtat5r2xfm11n81.hop.clickbank.net/ Passive Income Tutorial by Practical Psychology on Amazon - http://amzn.to/2etRo2q Creating passive income streams has never been easier than it is today and practically anyone can do it. You don’t even need to invest your money in order to get started, because the methods I’m about to share is free and anyone can sign up for it. However I want you to know that although the income will be passive with little upkeep, you will still have to work in order to set everything up. 1. Amazon affiliate marketing - This is one of the most popular ways to generate passive income, because it’s so damn easy. It’s completely free to sign up and the payment from amazon will normally be paid out 60 days after the purchase. You can choose to be paid through amazon directly to your amazon account and you can buy amazon products from your earnings. You can also be paid to a regular bank account, however this option is only viable if you’re a U.S citizen as for now. And the third option is through checks, which is the only option if you live outside the U.S and don’t want all your earnings to go to your amazon account. 2. Clickbank affiliate - Clickbank is similar to amazon affiliate, however the commission rate is way higher and goes up to 75 %. Clickbank doesn’t focus on physical products but digital ones such as courses and tutorials. The profit per sale is outstanding and you can earn hundreds of dollars just through a single sale through your affiliate link. 3. Photos - Get that camera out and start snapping some pictures because there are loads of money to made if you get a good shot or two. There are many sites that accepts good quality images and every time someone downloads your image, you will earn money. The most popular sites are shutterstock, iStockphoto and Alamy. 4. Teespring - Teespring allows you to sell physical products and create your own brand or logo to put on them. The most popular items are t-shirts and hoodies but you can also put your logo on other things such as mugs and phone cases. 5. eBooks - You can now become an author even without any hefty education or having your previous work published in some fancy magazine. If you have the ability to jot down some engaging sentences and turn them into a few pages, you could publish that as an ebook. 6. Blog - Starting a blog will actually cost you some money but I don’t count these costs a as big investments. You need to pay to get a domain name which will cost you around $10 dollars a year to own, and you will also need a host that stores all information, which is roughly $10 dollars a month depending on which web host you decide to go with. Having your own blog creates a whole bunch of opportunities to create streams of passive income. 7. Online courses - Now you’re on the other end of the clickbank affiliate, and you’re creating the courses. Creating a course takes a lot of time but if you manage to get through it, there is a high chance of gold being on the end of it. You put your price on the course so the potential earnings are limitless, and as you know by now, people will market your product for you and you can sit back and watch the profits stream in. There are many sites that allows you to create courses such as Teachable, Skillshare and Udemy. 8. Envato - You might want to check out envato if you’re a creative person and skilled with different softwares, making music, or videos. You can create templates for wordpress sites through envato’s themeforest, and every time someone decides to go with your creations you will get paid. If you’re skilled with creating music, upload some sick tunes to audiojungle and you will create a passive income stream if people buy your tunes. 9. YouTube videos - Youtube is a great way to create passive income, but it requires a lot of time and commitment. Every time someone watches one of your videos, ads can appear on the sides of the videos, before the video starts or sometimes in the middle of a video. These ads is what will make you earn money, and sometimes people don’t even need to click on them and you will still make a profit from it. Video Breakthrough Academy by Clark Kegley - http://189562j1paygtat5r2xfm11n81.hop.clickbank.net/ 10. Patreon - And the last source I will talk about is patreon. So assuming you have some kind of following and people appreciate what you do, you can set up a patreon account and let your followers donate to you on a subscription basis. Your followers can decide how much they want to donate to you. User experience is a sound investment. Hear some of the best statistics that drive home this point by highlighting the cost of not investing in user-experience early in the development cycle. More at http://neuronUX.com Full Transcript: I’m Soudy Khan, Director of User Experience at Neuron. Today I’m going to talk about the importance of investing early in UX design and I’m going to start with very anecdotal figures and points. In the book, Software Engineering: A Practitioner’s Approach, which has been for three decades now, the #1 academic book for those pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Robert Pressman, the author, says that, “For every dollar you spend researching functionality during the design phase, it costs $10 dollars to redesign that functionality during development, and it cost $100 dollars or more after release.” So you may be looking at a dollar’s worth of effort in the early formational stages, compared to $100 dollars’ worth of effort in later stages. Dr. Clare-Marie Karat who is a well-known usability expert has estimated, actually demonstrated, that 80% of maintenance costs are due to unforeseen user requirements after initial launch. And the last two are what’s the most interesting, because they come from the IEEE which is the governing association, the largest association of electrical engineers, computer scientists, and technologists with over 400,000 members worldwide. And the first thing they say in one of their reports is that they identify the 12 common factors for failure of technology projects, and that three of them could be mitigated by proper UX activities. So, early on usability testing and other activities like that and just spending the time to design things properly to make sure there’s good functionality that it makes sense. And related to that, they estimate that 40 to 50% of software development is actually avoidable rework; rework that is completely avoidable had more thought been put into the design. So on an annual basis we spend around 1 trillion dollars on software development, but 400 to 500 billion actually is just work that was avoidable if we had put more time into thinking about it (from the onset). And that makes total sense, if you think about, you know, the way a home is designed or the way a movie is filmed, you really want to take the time to get it right. If later you decide that oh, you know, the penthouse actually belongs on top, not in the basement, moving things around is much more expensive. It can be done, but doing it early in the design phase just saves a lot of money, a lot of time, and a lot of effort. Which kind of reminds me that, you know, agile once again is not an excuse for winging it. What you really want to do is start with the best design you could possibly conceive and then in a very agile fashion, you want to endeavor to perfect it. So starting with the very best thing you can, scrub it as much as possible, take it through the development process, and continue to refine it. But starting from the onset with the best user experience ultimately saves the most amount of money and brings the best product to market. Thanks a lot for watching. Take care.

In response to the damage and destabilization created by the financial crisis and its continuing fallout as well as other destabilizing events in the non-financial world, companies are increasing their attention on risk management. But having, or implementing, a risk management program does not necessarily mean your company is managing risk, witness JPMorgan, a firm with the reputation for having the best risk management among the investment banks. This webinar discusses the dangers of focusing on risk management instead of actually managing risk. It addresses the natural tendency to focus risk management plans on obvious and known risks, i.e., insurance related risks, regulatory compliance, credit risk, reputation risk, known natural disasters – flood, earthquakes, tornadoes, while failing to account for the “transparent vulnerabilities” – the less visible threats that can generate not only high-impact but systemic and cascading impact. The webinar considers 12 areas (i.e., Sovereign debt, Infrastructure Decay, etc.) as examples of transparent vulnerabilities that are not being addressed sufficiently and presents several scenarios of how not addressing these risk areas can develop into a crisis that could impact your organization. Finally, it offers five critical things every CEO needs to do to ensure their organization is effectively managing risk instead of just going through the motions of a risk management program. Main points covered: • Risk and limitations of knowledge • What’s missing from Risk Management? • Outsmarting the future Presenter: This session was presented by Geary Sikich, the principle of Logical Management Systems Corporation. He has written over 275 academic and applied papers which have appeared in international journals. Date: April 14, 2016 Organizer: Alba Keqa, PECB - https://www.pecb.com/ Slides of the webinar: http://bit.ly/1NsxkGk

"Are High-Cost Cancer Therapies Really Worth the Investment?" Healthcare costs in the U.S. present a major economic challenge with expenditures predicted to reach over $4.2 trillion, or 18.5% of gross domestic product, by 2020. The biopharmaceutical industry has made great strides in the war on cancer, and is leading the revolution in genomics and personalized medicine, but the high cost of cancer therapies is raising questions about their value and impact on total healthcare spending. Driven by the aging population, the introduction of newer and more expensive specialty drugs, and the availability of improved diagnostic testing, this growth has placed oncology costs and drug pricing firmly in the policy and media spotlight. In this Health Forum, we will discuss the value of these cancer therapies, balancing the need for innovation with economic sustainability. The UCLA Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health is pleased to host The Health Forum at UCLA (FSPH), a series of regularly scheduled free public programs featuring health leaders discussing critical issues in public health.

Child care costs vary from state to state, even county to county. But there is one common thread across the country – it's really expensive. Both parents and child care providers are struggling to make ends meet with the rising cost of child care. Raising a kid in America is expensive. The cost of child care has nearly tripled since 1990, which is more than the overall rate of inflation. The price families pay varies from state to state, even county to county. But in many places, it costs more to send a toddler to day care than it does to pay for housing, transportation or even college tuition. There is good reason child care is so expensive — it's a very involved, labor-driven industry. But the tension around the cost of child care in the U.S. really boils down to who foots the bill. In countries like Denmark and Sweden, the government covers much of the child care costs. In America, the costs are generally shouldered by parents and providers. Federal child care funding in the U.S. has been in a perpetual ebb and flow in response to cultural values. During World War II, the federal government came the closest it's ever been to having universal child care. Now, with the 2020 election coming up, some candidates are making it a priority. Watch the video above to learn about the history of child care in America and how rising costs are impacting families today. » Subscribe to CNBC: http://cnb.cx/SubscribeCNBC » Subscribe to CNBC TV: http://cnb.cx/SubscribeCNBCtelevision » Subscribe to CNBC Classic: http://cnb.cx/SubscribeCNBCclassic About CNBC: From 'Wall Street' to 'Main Street' to award winning original documentaries and Reality TV series, CNBC has you covered. THE HIGH COST OF WAITING Want to save $1 million by age 67? You'd better get started soon. The longer you wait, the more you'll have to put away each month to reach your retirement goals. 27 years old? You have to put away $214 a month to reach $1 million. Start at age 37, and you're putting away $541 a month to reach your goal. Begin at age 47, and you'd have to put away $1,491 a month. Wait until age 57, and you're putting away a hefty $5,168 a month. Wait until the last minute (age 62) and you'd have to stash $13,258 a month to reach $1 million by age 67. So, the sooner you start saving, the fewer dollars you'll have to put away each month to reach your retirement goals. Don't pay the high cost of waiting! This example is hypothetical and does not represent an actual investment. This uses a nominal 9% rate of return, compounded monthly. It uses a constant rate of return, unlike actual investments, which will fluctuate in value. It does not include fees and taxes, which will lower results.

Dollar cost averaging (DCA) is an investment strategy with the goal of reducing the impact of volatility on large purchases of financial assets such as equities. By dividing the total sum to be invested in the market (e.g. $12,000) into equal amounts put into the market at regular intervals (e.g. $1,500 over 8 months), DCA hopes to reduce the risk of incurring a substantial loss resulting from investing the entire "lump sum" just before a fall in the market. Dollar cost averaging is not always the most profitable way to invest a large sum, but it is alleged to minimize downside risk. The technique is said to work in markets undergoing temporary declines because it exposes only part of the total sum to the decline. The technique is so-called because of its potential for reducing the average cost of shares bought. As the number of shares that can be bought for a fixed amount of money varies inversely with their price, DCA effectively leads to more shares being purchased when their price is low and fewer when they are expensive. As a result, DCA possibly can lower the total average cost per share of the investment, giving the investor a lower overall cost for the shares purchased over time

The Hunter family open H&H Hardware in 1962. When a new Walmart was build in town, they were driven out of business. (15:20) - How Walmart Profits from Poverty (And Sticks Taxpayers With The Bill) - Walmart stores are frequently short staffed, not because they can't find workers but because they want to save on their labor experiences. This comes from the top, the corporate doesn't budget enough money for payroll. Because Walmart doesn't pay fair wages, their employers need to go on public assistance programs. (25:13) How Walmart Rolls Back Worker's Rights - Walmart is one of the most anti-unoin companies in America. Store managers keep an eye on employees they suspect are either sympathetic to unions or are active union organizers. (33:56) - Walmart Cheats Workers - It is estimated that they cheated workers out of $150 million dollars. Walmart would teach managers how to digitally change people's time cards as not to pay overtime and reduce store experiences. (44:35) -Subsidies - The subsidies Walmart gets from city governments takes funding away from public schools. When Walmart opened stored in Denver, they got $1.7 million in city subsidies, if the money had gone to the Denver Public Schools system, they wouldn't had have to shut down three schools. Subsidies also give Walmart an unfair business advantage over small, locally owned stores that offer better pay and benefits for their workers. (54:46) - Environmental Ruin -In Belmont, North Carolina, a Catawba Riverkeeper noticed that runoff from herbicides and pesticides was flowing into the river and polluting the town's drinking water. It was only after the local news aired a report on the water contamination that a local manager moved those toxic substance to a better storage site. The company's main offices were unresponsive. (1:00:10) - Imports From China - In China, factory workers can live in dorms owned by Walmart - workers pay rent and utilities. If they move out of the dorms, to live in a place not connected to Walmart, they still have to pay rent for the dorms. Workers work in factories with poor ventilation. They are told to lie to inspectors about how many days they work: six, when they really work seven days a week. All of this to make less than $3 a day. (1:12:33) - Greed - Lee Scott, the CEO of Walmart made $27,207,799 in 2005 when, the average Walmart hourly sales employee made $13,861 annually. The family who owns Walmart, the Waltons, is one of America's wealthiest family, yet they barely give anything to charity. They are worth $102 billion. (1:16:10) - No Security - Kidnappings, robberies, and car jackings...80% of crime that occurs at Walmarts in California takes place in the stores' parking lot, yet most of the stores' security officers are posted within the store. As early as 1994, Walmart knew that it had issues with its' parking lot security, but they hid these internal reports. They also knew that adding roving patrols in parking lots greatly reduce crime (1:25:06) - Taking Control - Walmart is a powerful corporation! However, we can beat them. Two communities, one in Arizona and another in Southern California did just that! They stopped a Walmart from coming into their communities. As another installment of half a million kina was paid today by the Kabwum district to a new shipping service for the Morobe Province, it has been revealed that maintenance and repair costs of two ships the company bought could equal the initial purchase price of two million kina. The Maneba and Gejamsao, formerly owned by the now liquidated Lutheran Shipping, were bought by the Morobe Coastal Shipping Services - a company set up by five districts of Morobe. The company management, today revealed they expect to spend an additional K2 million to K3 million to have the ships on water again. While the decision may have people wondering about future profitability, the move has been defended by Kabwum MP, Bob Dadae, who says service – not profits - is not the primary motive of setting up the company.- visit us at http://www.emtv.com.pg/ for the latest news...

What Is Dollar Cost Averaging? http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/strategies/strategies-tips.html PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO SO WE CAN DO MORE! Dollar Cost Averaging Investment Strategy Explained. Dollar-Cost Averaging: Does It Work? DCA is basically an investment strategy that private investors commonly use when investing in funds. This is a way for an investor to get involved in the stock market or the buying of a stock in an average way over a long period of time. Dollar-cost averaging turns investing into a regular savings plan, This takes some of the risk out; instead of putting all your money in at one go you are spreading it out to dampen out the noise or volatility from month to month. Let's say you buy a fixed amount of stock every time period - say every month. As price rises you are buying less shares and you are buying more shares as the price falls. When cost averaging, is it better to buy new low-priced stocks or keep buying same stocks? The whole point of dollar-cost averaging is to average into a single stock by buying more shares when the price is low, and fewer when the price is high - this works very well when you invest a fixed dollar amount every month.
