Journey to safer chemicals - REACH registration

01:45
For 10 years, chemical companies have assessed the risks of their chemicals used in Europe and sent that information to the European Chemicals Agency according to the criteria set out in the REACH Regulation. Today, we know more than ever before about the chemicals on the EU/EEA market, their properties and impacts. Companies are able to advise their customers on how to use them safely. ECHA together with the national authorities and the European Commission will use the knowledge to design EU wide measures to protect our citizens and the environment from any harmful effects. What are the REACH Regulations?

02:32
The REACH Regulations replace a number of directives with a single system EU regulation concerning the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals. The Regulations are in place to provide a high level of protection to human health and the environment from the use of chemicals and to make the people who place chemicals on the market responsible for understanding and managing the risks associated with their use.

[Webinar] REACH Compliance: What You Need to Know

58:48
If a company manufactures a product in the hope of accessing the European Union market, it is likely they will eventually encounter the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals Regulation (REACH). Complying with REACH can be a challenge for many companies, as its requirements are ever-changing and new substances of very high concern (SVHCs) are regularly added to its list of restricted substances. In order to stay ahead of this evolving regulation, companies must implement an agile compliance program which can adapt to change while meeting rigorous regulatory obligations. In this video, join Valerie Kuntz, Assent’s Subject Matter Expert on restricted substances, as she explores the REACH Regulation and provides key insights companies can use to create strong compliance programs. In this webinar, you will learn: -What the REACH Regulation is -What are the regulation’s main compliance requirements? -What is the SVHC Candidate for Authorisation List? -… and more! REACH compliance requires companies to access their supply chain and collect vital product composition data, analyze the information and ensure they meet the regulation’s thresholds. This video provides the opportunity to learn more about REACH, understand its requirements and how you can comply with the regulation. European Regulation on Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP)

05:09
We are changing the labelling of our products from the end of 2013. The change is required by all EU Member States to meet the European regulation on classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) of substances and mixtures. The CLP Regulation ensures that the hazards posed by certain chemicals are clearly explained to workers and consumers in the EU through clear classification and labelling. The legislation will bring the EU into line with the United Nations' Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). In time, this worldwide standard will replace the old European labelling systems. Labels (and safety data sheets) will look different in future but this does not necessarily reflect a change in the composition or performance of -- your tried and tested Standox products.

ECHA - The Use of Alternatives to Testing on Animals for the REACH Regulation

04:22
ECHA publishes a report on the use of alternatives to testing in animals for the REACH Regulation. Interview with Leena Ylä-Mononen, Director of Evaluation and Norbert Fedtke, Head of Unit of Evaluation about the findings of the report. REACH is clear that every effort must be made so that testing chemicals on animals is truly a last resort -- when there is no other scientifically reliable way of showing the impact on humans or the environment. REACH also demands that companies in possession of data on a chemical must share it (and share the cost) with any other companies making the same substance, thereby removing the potential for duplicate testing. REACH, a test case for better regulation - Towards safer chemicals management in the workplace

03:08
With the adoption of the Better Regulation Agenda on 19th May, the European Commission is taking first concrete steps in the definition of its policy. This issue is expected to be heavily discussed in Parliament and Council in the following weeks, all the more since the Parliament has been very careful about the risk of better regulation being misused to remove environmental laws. There is a growing interest across stakeholders for the application of the better regulation approach to the management of chemicals. The Commission, the Parliament, the Council and the industry have started to look into a more consistent interaction between REACH and workplace legislation. Trade unions have been vocal about speeding up the process of implementing relevant workplace legislation, encouraging the Commission to adopt exposure limits for a number of chemicals. * What are the most “burdensome” aspects of REACH Authorization and how could they be tackled? * How do exposure limits contribute to a safe management of chemicals? Where are there duplications with REACH? What could be simplified? * How can workplace legislation and its effective implementation contribute to safe chemicals management? What synergies could be used between REACH and workplace legislation? How can better regulation elements be applied in chemicals management in the interest of health and safety, environmental protection and competitiveness?

More information: http://ec.europa.eu./avservices/video/video_prod_en.cfm?type=detail&prodid=665 New EU rules for the chemical industry -- the REACH package -- are set to improve our health and protect the environment. Obliging companies to register and provide information on the chemicals they use should enable public authorities to identify their properties more quickly and accurately. Particularly severe on toxic products, the new rules will encourage the European chemicals industry to develop new substances that are less harmful for people and the environment. As a result, the sector itself should also gain a lead in innovative and sustainable technologies.

About REACH

00:47
http://www.sureteam.co.uk/ R.E.A.C.H (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restrictions of Chemicals) is a European Union Regulation, and it's a serious mandate for every business in the U.K. It's for control of chemicals, says Peter Hodgson, Managing Director at Sureteam, every chemical sold or used should be on the registered list, as far as mandatory health and safety requirements go. R.E.A.C.H. helps provide information about dangerous chemicals. Information such as whether chemicals are dangerous or not? What's the boiling point? How about the flash point? Are there any warnings with respect to a particular chemical? R.E.A.C.H. is a mandate, a strong one at that.

01:17:39
This is the second webinar of a series focusing on practical information to successfully register by the deadline of 31 May 2018. If your company does not have previous experience of registering chemicals under the REACH Regulation, you will find this webinar particularly useful. It gives you an understanding of how to retrieve your pre-registrations in REACH-IT and to check if your substance has already been registered. You can then find useful information on how to find the lead registrant or your co-registrants with whom you will need to work together to register jointly. You can also get tips on how to start the work and prepare for being in a substance information exchange forum (SIEF).
