Traditional brass and copper craft of utensil making among the Thatheras of Jandiala Guru
UNESCO: Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity - 2014 URL: http://www.unesco.org/culture/ich/RL/00845 Description: The craft of the Thatheras of Jandiala Guru represents the traditional technique of manufacturing brass and copper utensils in Punjab. The process begins with procuring cooled cakes of metal that are flattened into thin plates and then hammered into curved shapes. Utensils are manually finished by polishing with sand and tamarind juice. They may be manufactured for ritual or utilitarian purposes, both for individual and community use on special occasions such as weddings or at temples. The process of manufacturing is transmitted orally from father to son. Country(ies): India © 2009 by Punjab Heritage Tourism Promotion Board, Punjab Duration: 00:10:29 - Support: DVD (0084500006)

Depleted Uranium Tank Ammunition | DEADLY DARTS 💀☄️
To understand why DU makes a good anti-tank weapon you have to enter the Alice In Wonderland world of high-energy collisions. When metal meets metal at five times the speed of sound, hardened steel shatters like glass. Metal flows like putty, or simply vaporises. A faster shell does not necessarily go through more armour, but, like a pebble thrown into a pond, it makes a bigger splash. Armour penetration is increased by concentrating the force of a shell into as small an area as possible, so the projectiles tend to look like giant darts. The denser the projectile, the harder the impact for a given size. DU is almost twice as dense as lead, making it highly suitable. The other metal used for anti-tank rounds is tungsten, which is also very hard and dense. When a tungsten rod strikes armour, it deforms and mushrooms, making it progressively blunter. Uranium is "pyrophoric": at the point of impact it burns away into vapour, so the projectile stays sharp. When it breaks through, the burning DU turns the inside of a vehicle into an inferno of white-hot gas and sparks. Today we talk about Depleted Uranium Tank Ammunition Hope you enjoy!! 4 Types of Toxic Cookware to Avoid and 4 Safe Alternatives
We all know the importance of eating healthy, but not everyone knows that the cookware you use to prepare your dishes is just as important as the food itself. Even the healthiest diet can result in severe health problems if your pots and pans are toxic. Find out which cookware you should avoid by all means for the sake of your own health and the health of your family. The non-stick properties of Teflon cookware are achieved with a coating of PTFE. This is a plastic polymer that, when heated above 572°F, starts to release toxins. These toxic fumes lead to flu-like symptoms called polymer fume fever, informally known as Teflon flu. Another chemical compound found in Teflon cookware is especially threatening since it tends to stay in the body (as well as in the environment) for long periods of time. Try cast-iron cookware instead. It even comes in non-stick varieties. It doesn't leak anything toxic into your food and is actually a nice natural way to increase your body’s iron levels. Though aluminum cookware is usually coated, the coating is prone to chipping, allowing the toxic metal to get right into your food. As for aluminum foil, using it while cooking is even more dangerous. In fact, there’s an established safe amount of aluminum the human body can manage daily, and that’s 20 mg per pound of body weight a day. When you wrap your food in aluminum foil and cook it this way, the amount of this substance that leaks into the food significantly exceeds the permissible level. Consider using glass cookware instead. If you’ve just enjoyed some fish in lemon juice or stewed tomatoes cooked in an uncoated copper pot and you find yourself suffering from extremely unpleasant symptoms (such as vomiting blood, light-headedness, yellowy skin, or gastrointestinal distress, among others) call 911 immediately. Try this safe alternative instead: stainless steel. Just make sure you're buying food-grade stainless steel since this is the only type that doesn't contain any nickel or chromium. Soft ceramic coating isn't durable enough and starts chipping after a few months of daily use. When this happens, lead and cadmium sometimes found in the coating will end up in your food and, thus, in your body. Lead poisoning is one of the most dangerous types of metal poisoning and can result in abdominal pain, headaches, infertility, and other health complications. Try this safe alternative instead: 100% ceramic cookware. TIMESTAMPS Teflon cookware 0:38 Aluminum cookware and aluminum foil 3:31 Copper cookware 5:12 Ceramic-coated cookware 6:54 SUMMARY -Teflon contains plastic polymer that, when heated above 572°F, starts to release toxins. Try this safe alternative instead: real cast-iron. This is a nontoxic cooking option that truly withstands the test of time. It heats well and evenly throughout. -Aluminum is a neurotoxic metal. Elevated levels of aluminum in the body have been linked to several central nervous system diseases, including Alzheimer's and ALS. Try this safe alternative instead: glass cookware. It’ll never release anything toxic when heated, it doesn’t hold onto any old flavors or odors, and it's not only durable but also eco-friendly. -Copper cookware, especially when it isn’t coated, can easily send you to the ER with a bad case of metal poisoning. And that’s because it can release copper when you cook acidic foods. Stainless steel is a great cookware option: it's relatively lightweight, scratch-resistant, and comes in non-stick varieties. -Soft ceramic coating isn't durable enough and starts chipping after a few months of daily use. When this happens, lead and cadmium sometimes found in the coating will end up in your food and, thus, in your body. Try this safe alternative instead: 100% ceramic cookware. This is one of the best and safest options out there since it's made with completely natural materials, it isn't toxic, and it won't chip or peel off. Making Free Fence Post Puller & Test Results
I was looking for a fence post puller to remove the T posts and wooden fence posts I have out here on the homestead. I used all reclaimed lumber I had laying around and built a nearly free fence post puller that works. Read the full article here: http://www.thedoityourselfworld.com/articles/article.php?id=11312 I have a lot of oak here from wood pallets. I went to TSC to get a bolt to fit the job. This was the only thing I purchased. The rest was free materials I had laying around. I drilled a hole through a piece of a pallet. I kept part of the original framing in place to hold the pieces together. Then I took another long piece of wood. This was a 3x3 pine board which I cut to fit as a lever. I drilled through this too. Next came the bolt and washers to hold the lever in place. A flat board went on the bottom to act as a foot to hold it all upright. Next I drilled a hole in the end of the lever and pushed a bolt with an eye through it. Using a piece of chain from my engine hoist I am now able to easily remove fence posts alone out here on the off grid homestead. Later I found a bolt that goes through the holes in the fence posts. This makes it very easy to attach the fence post puller to the posts and slide them right out of the ground with ease. Thanks for watching. Please Subscribe & follow my daily videos. Making of the Lloyd Coat Wallet
See the wallets here https://equsit.co.uk/2Q4PB8o The design and creation process of the Lloyd Coat wallet has been a long one. Based upon the design of a 1950s wallet owned by Charlie's (our Creative Director) Grandfather, the first and most important part of our job was not to spoil the beautiful lines of the original, but to bring the design up to date, the original having been designed in a world before credit cards or other such things. A design on paper isn't the end of the story though, and the complex shapes and construction had to be brought together into a single beautiful object, with each element adding to the form, as well as the function of the finished piece. The result is a traditional wallet, the largest in our Lloyd series, but sharing the same beautiful curves that run throughout. Each one takes more than a days work to create, with every stitch meticulously done by hand, but we hope as a result will be passed down the generation as was the original the design is based on.

Making knives: CNC Knife Milling
http://northarmknives.com/ This is an early video we did showing our Blade milling process at the time. That was over 3 years ago, time flies! We plan to film some updated videos about our process soon. We get raw sheet stock from our steel supplier. CNC milling is the first step in the process of turning the plain sheet of steel into knives. First we drill accurate locating holes at the center of the sheet. This allows us to very accurately flip the sheet halfway through to mill the second side of the blades. Once both sides of the bevel are milled, we do the final milling step which is to cut the knives out of the sheet. From there the knives must be buffed to remove the burrs and milling marks. Then heat treat, more hand finishing, sharpening and assembly. Then finally, shipping to the customer! Check out the other videos in our "shop tour and process playlist" to get more details about our processes! http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBxZ90bFaMf9BAsr60_cBM66-6m2WT8W2 For knife related articles including care and sharpening or to purchase a North Arm knife visit our website! http://northarmknives.com/

Wire Tree Tutorial – Model Railroad
Building fantastic looking and very realistic trees from scratch doesn’t have to be hard and I’ll show you just how easy it really is. This tree will look fantastic on any model railroad, war gaming terrain or a display diorama and it will add life to any layout. Follow along as I step you through the process I use to create this great looking apple tree. The great part is you can still manipulate the tree to change its shape even after you’ve completed it. It’s a time consuming process but the results are well worth the time and effort. This particular tree is in HO scale, the wire I used scales down well to N scale and it’s simple to use thicker gauge wire to model in the larger scales. Check out http://www.bouldercreekrailroad.com for more articles and tutorials about modeling and model railroads. 9/11 inside job-Thermite and what it can do to steel beams
Credits to Jonathan Cole P.E. for putting together this video together showing his experiments to test claims made about thermite by the Mainstream media in their efforts to cover up the truth about 9/11 and the evidence for thermitic materials found by independent scientific researchers who tested samples of dust to look for explosives, and oddly found nanothermite... Making Transparent Metal? Invisible Sodium chemical experiment!
Please note that this video was made solely for research and demonstration purposes! Do not attempt to repeat the experiments shown in this video!Hello everyone! Today I will show you a very unusual effect, that I observed in the reaction of sodium with water on the surface of wet napkins. As we already know from my previous videos, sodium is an active alkali metal. It is quite soft and vigorously reacts with water. If you just throw a piece of sodium in the water, usually it melts first, then lights up and then explodes. However, if you perform the reaction of sodium with water under different conditions, we can observe a very unusual effect. Take a cup of water and put a filter paper on it’s surface. Next, take a medium size piece of sodium, and put it on the wet surface of the filter. When sodium metal contacts with the wet filter surface, the reaction begins. As a result of the heat during the reaction, sodium eventually melts and then ignites. But after this an unusual effect takes place which I still cannot explain.Burning stops, and a droplet of sodium that was just black becomes red and then transparent. After that the droplet begins to float on the water surface and in the end it explodes. I did this experiment several times and every time the same result has been achieved. First, the droplet of sodium ignites. Then, the burning stops. And then, for reasons unknown to me, a droplet of unknown substance was formed which was floating on the surface of water. Whether, we are dealing with a transparent sodium, or any other substance was formed, such as sodium hydroxide, or a sodium hydroxide mixture with water in unknown proportions? Why the droplet becomes perfectly clear? Still I cannot find the answer to this question. If we assume that we are dealing with sodium hydroxide, then why this droplet doesn’t sink and instead floats on the surface of water? As the density of sodium hydroxide is 2 times greater than the density of water. Or can we assume that we are dealing with undiscovered properties of sodium metal, which is to acquire a transparent state under certain conditions? I began to study this question. I have started looking for scientific articles which mention the transparent state of sodium metal. Luckily I found something. However, in this article written by Russian and Japanese scientists, the transparent state of sodium was only described having a very high pressure, more than million atmospheres. With huge pressure sodium droplet becomes transparent. I wrote to the authors of this article about the effect that I was able to photograph. Authors answered that we could be dealing with a transparent sodium hydroxide. But the question remains, why did this drop float and didn’t not sink? Perhaps because of the temperature difference between the droplet and water, we have to be dealing with the Leidenfrost effect, which we can observe by pouring liquid nitrogen on hand. I even spoke to Professor Toomas Tamm at Tallinn University, who is working in inorganic chemistry field. He suggested that perhaps we are not dealing with a pure sodium metal or sodium hydroxide, instead maybe with some kind of phases that sodium hydroxide can form with water. Thus, due to the special optical properties of this drop, it becomes transparent. I also managed to shoot the behavior of sodium on the surface of wet filter. Thus, we can clearly observe spheroidal state which the burning sodium droplet acquires after becoming transparent. Nevertheless, I have not received a clear answer to this question, and the effect that I was able to observe. Perhaps you, the viewers of my channel, could help me find an explanation for this effect. Why the sodium droplet becomes transparent after burning? What happens in this reaction? Write in comments your assumptions, and maybe together we will be able to find an explanation to the effect that we were able to observe. For those of you who were not very interested to listen to a scientific chatter, I suggest you to take a look at the moments in which the reaction of sodium and water was going out of control. Happy viewing! And those of you who were interested in the scientific side of this video, I propose to discuss such an effect that we were able to observe in the comments. Thanks for watching! Rusting of Iron | #aumsum #kids #education #science #learn
Rusting of Iron. When a piece of iron is left out in the open for a while, a film of brownish substance gets deposited on its surface called rust. Rusting occurs when iron is exposed to oxygen in air and water or water vapor. Rust is Iron oxide. Iron plus oxygen plus water vapor gives iron oxide. In areas that have higher humidity, the rusting process takes place faster as the content of moisture in the air is higher. This process of rust formation in presence of oxygen and water or water vapor is called rusting.

Stainless Steel Tumbler: Is Yours Making You Sick?
The other day I deep cleaned the lid for my stainless steel tumbler and I couldn’t believe what I saw. I had never cleaned this part of my cup, but it was obvious that that was a mistake. Since I know a lot of other anglers are using these cups like me, I put together this quick video to show you exactly how and why you need to clean your tumbler lids. 14 Shocking CGI Movie Moments You Didn't Notice
When it comes to computer graphics, the first thing that probably pops into your mind is Michael Bay’s Transformers or Davey Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean, right? Well, that’s true, of course, but what you probably didn’t realize is that CGI is also used in a lot more subtle ways that you might’ve missed in your favorite movies. Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - #1: Black Swan. Natalie Portman’s hands were artificially elongated at some points to make them look more surreal and creepy. And it worked, didn’t it? - #2: Star Trek (2009). When Kirk toys around with a saltshaker in the shape of a tiny USS Enterprise, he pours a small stream of salt from it. Guess where CGI is in this? Yep, it’s digital salt! - #3: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998).The cost of making the digital hair was actually a lot higher than the money the actor had demanded for simply shaving his head! - #4: Titanic (1997). Remember the part where water starts flooding the inside of the ship? The flood was added digitally. - #5: Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi (1983). George Lucas wanted to digitally remove Darth Vader’s eyebrows in the scene where the Dark Lord takes off his helmet so that it’d show the result of injuries he received in Revenge of the Sith. - #6: The Proposal (2009). To create the image of this northernmost American state, the director had to add… mountains! That’s right, all the mountain chains you see in the movie are actually CGI! - #7: Ghost Rider (2007). Cage fans will know that the actor has pretty big tattoos on both of his upper arms and shoulders, but Johnny Blaze doesn’t. This discrepancy led film creators to the decision to remove the ink digitally using CGI. - #8: Zodiac (2007). Most of the city, including the famous port, was created using CGI. - #9: Les Misérables (2012). The entire cast sang live, and they couldn’t have done it without microphones attached to their bodies. Guess where those mikes went in post-production? - #10: Dark Shadows (2012). Film director Tim Burton wanted his lead actor to resemble a “real” vampire as much as possible, so he asked his technicians to remove any blink Depp made while filming. - #11: Blood Diamond (2006). Jennifer Connelly’s tears you see on screen were, in fact, added digitally. - #12: Brokeback Mountain (2005). Mountains, trees, rivers, and lots and lots of sheep. Can you guess which of those was added with CGI? Yep, it was all those woolly grazers! - #13: Logan (2017). In an action-filled scene of a car chase, we get a good close-up view of Hugh Jackman’s angry face, but it’s not his at all! It’s actually his stunt double performing the whole scene. - #14: The Dark Knight (2008). Instead of risking it and hoping that the steel cables would really work, the production team placed a huge piston in the road and launched it just as the truck was passing over it. The piston was then removed using CGI. How Does Electroplating Work | Chemistry for All | FuseSchool
Learn the basics about electroplating. The anode is positively charged, and the cathode is negatively charged. They are immersed in a solution called an electrolyte. The electrolyte and the anode are selected based upon the material that you are electroplating with. So if you want to create a copper plate on the cathode, you would use a copper anode and a copper based electrolyte solution. When the battery is turned on, the positively charged ions in the electrolyte are attracted to the cathode. Here, they gain electrons which is known as reduction. When the battery is turned on, the negatively charged ions in the electrolyte solution are attracted to the anode. The atoms within the anode, so the copper atoms in copper plating, lose electrons which is known as oxidation. These copper atoms are now positively charged and dissolve into the electrolyte solution. Once in the electrolyte solution, because they are now positively charged they are attracted over to the negative cathode. Hence electroplating the cathode. The electrons flow from the anode to the cathode. Half equations occur at each anode, with oxidation at the anode and reduction at the cathode. Just remember, oxidation is loss of electrons and reduction is gain. SUBSCRIBE to the Fuse School YouTube channel for many more educational videos. Why Can't We Make Spider Silk?
People have been using silkworm silk to make stuff for thousands of years, but spider silk could potentially be even more useful. It's stronger than steel, super stretchy, and could be made into anything from bridge cables to biodegradable water bottles... if only we could figure out how to cultivate it. What Will Happen If You Start Eating Oats Every Day
Doctors and nutritionists highly recommend making oatmeal a part of your diet and having it as your healthy morning meal. The secret is simple: good-quality environmentally-friendly oats help you feel and look better on the inside and out. Oats have some unique properties thanks to the wide variety of vitamins and minerals they contain. Zinc helps cleanse the skin and remove toxins and other harmful compounds. Iron is one of the most important elements for the nutrition and saturation of moisture in skin cells. Magnesium promotes blood circulation and noticeable skin cell renewal. While protein is extremely important, your body also demands carbohydrates and fats, both of which you can find in oatmeal. Oats are also rich in antioxidants that help alleviate itching, inflammation, and high blood pressure. The slow carbohydrates found in oatmeal help curb your appetite and maintain normal blood sugar levels. All those nutrients in oats not only boost your metabolism but also prevent the accumulation of fat and toxins in the body. Thanks to the antioxidants present in oatmeal, the probability of damage to the walls of blood vessels by free radicals is reduced significantly. If you find it boring to just have oatmeal for breakfast every day, you’ll love the recipes we have put together to help you turn a boring oatmeal breakfast into something way more flavorful. GENIUS HACKS FOR ANY SITUATION These life hacks and tricks are gonna be unexpectedly helpful in numerous life situations. If you often use eyewear you'll like these hacks. If your glasses often fogging up, I advise you to rub some plain soap into the glasses and then wipe it up with a napkin as usual. When your eyeglasses keep slipping down, take two rubber bands, tie them round the temples of the glasses. That's it, no more slipping down! If you're just trying to pick up a new pair of glasses or buying eyewear for the first time, don't forget to take the table test. Simply put the eyeglasses right on the table and then carefully look at the glasses' temple tips, whether they both reach the table surface or not. If not, it means the temple tips are of different length! It may cause a lot of discomfort while wearing them. In case you have high myopia of −6.00 diopters or more and accidentally lost your eyewear on the working desk. Grab your phone, turn on the camera and zoom in on the table surface until you see your glasses. Another nasty problem every four-eyed probably faced - scratches on the lenses. Put some toothpaste on the lens and rub it in. Did you know how handy plastic bags can be? You can use them as a smartphone case to protect your gadget from the damp and sand when you take it to the beach with you. You can cook an awesome puffy omelet using plastic bag as well! 10 DIY Projects With Drinking Straws – 10 New Amazing Drinking Straw Crafts and Life Hacks
Absolutely awesome craft ideas using drinking straws – DIY room decorations, bracelets, earrings, lights, jewelry organizer and much more. Everything is very easy and creative :) Hope you'll like this video as much as my old video (DIY Bracelet Out Of A Drinking Straw - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVoF6Pw0MIU) ;) I start with absolutely easy but incredibly cute bracelets. You will need just a drinking straw and a pencil sharpener. ;) The second project – is DIY Jewelry organizer. You will need 2 set squares (triangle rulers (30°-60°-30°)), 4 drinking straws and 8 thumb tacks. Try it with any color and size :) The third of ten projects is a candle jar with stained glass effect :) Take a glass, double-sided tape and drinking straws of any colors you'd like. I show how to make a rainbow jar. Next DIY consists of 3 in 1, actually :) I show how to make beads of drinking straws and three ways of using it – bracelet, earrings and scrunchie. You'll need a candle, cold water, drinking straws and rubber band (you can use hair elastics). Fifth idea – is a perfect way to decorate your home plants. I love this idea, because I have many potted plants and the decoration way with drinking straws is absolutely fantastic. Plants' soil can still “breathe” (unlike decorative stones), it is light, so doesn't press on plant's roots and it is beautiful! And recycled! ;) Moving to the sixth project – great DIY bracelet idea. Seriously – cool! You will need an iron (turn it on the maximum high), parchment paper and drinking straws. Use any size of straws diameter, any color, experiment... But, be careful! After melting straws with iron give them 15 seconds to cool before touching. Next – DIY Lamp with drinking straws – or DIY Colorful Pompom Light out of drinking straws. You will need bendy drinking straws, LED light bulb (make sure it doesn't heat up more than 40-50°) and a hot glue gun. Just a tip – don't glue straws to the ceramic part of LED bulb – just to the plastic part. Eighth DIY is a bracelet. Similar to the previous one, but with cut straws. I love the mosaic effect! Do you? :) Ninth – is a life hack :) If you're tired of solid natural color of your string lights – use drinking straws to improve it. Choose the color fits to your mood, change it everyday... I like this project, because it is impossible to find lights of colors which drinking straws could create – purple, violet, neon pink, lemon yellow etc. And the last, tenth project – is a necklace. Melt drinking straws with iron and cut any shape you like. I cut the heart shape, using pink+red+white straws, but it could be a green clover, purple star or black musical note... :) Follow me on Instagram: https://instagram.com/idunngoddess/ Follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/IdunnGoddess Follow me on G+ : https://plus.google.com/+Coloredtips1/ Welcome to my blog: http://idunngoddess.com/ Love. If you wanna make beautiful decoration with an icing sugar. Don't waste your time and keep your hands clean. Just take a table napkin and sprinkle powdered sugar right through it. I don't know about you guys but for me breakfast is everything! Not only I try to make my breakfasts nutricious and yummy but I also try to make them look good. Because stylish and fun breakfast sets great mood for the working day. So here's the hack. I guess everybody has some eggs and sausages in the fridge pretty much all the time. You'll need 4 and a half sausages. First of all, cut every sausage in halves. Then cut every half in half again. And join two parts together with a toothpick. Now put these sausages in the form of a star on the frying pan and break three eggs inside of the star. When your starry eggs are ready take out the toothpicks and add some tomatoes and greens to your liking! Great way to debone cherries especially if you will feed them to an infant is following. Take a glass bottle with a narrow neck, put a cherry on top one by one and then press on it with a wooden stick. Chopsticks will work just as good. Simply genius and incredibly easy way to peel off kiwis – cut a kiwi in half, take a mixer whisk, insert it right in the kiwi and turn around. You’ll get 4 neat slices without any traces of kiwi peel, which is notorious for the tongue irritation. Here’s how to cut a pomegranate in the best way possible. Cut out an upper part of the pomegranate’s skin in a circle or a pentagon. Take it out and then you’ll see the lines where you need to cut in order to take off the seeds properly. Here's an awesome way to roast an onion. Cut it with an apple cutter, soak in an egg wash, strew it with breadcrumbs profusely, and put in the boiling oil. Voila! Your onion lotus is ready! It's great to eat with ketchup by the by! Kitchen Organization Ideas | Kitchen Storage Ideas | Kitchen Tips
In this video, I am going to share few tips to organise your kitchen. And will share my favourite kitchen organisers which can turn your kitchen super organised and easy to work on daily basis. 1. Use stair organiser to keep spices and condiments. This organiser keeps all the bottles visible and organised. 2. For top shelves of the cupboard where mostly our hands don’t reach use lazy Susan. 3. Get revolving Spice rack to save space. 4. Use Spice container to keep all daily need spices, salt and masalas. 5. Use Corner Shelve organiser to keep your Non-stick and Tawas segregated. 6. Get Plastic laundry basket to keep your monthly groceries. 7. Use folding rack plate organiser to utilise vertical space efficiently. 8. Similarly, over the cabinet baskets help to utilise vertical space efficiently. 9. Use corner shelve organiser to keep crockery. It fits perfectly in the corner of the cupboard and again helps saving vertical space and keep things segregated. 10. Get mesh magazine holder to keep chopping boards and trays. 11. Keep small baskets and holders to organise your snack cupboard. Categorise items and place them in baskets. 12. Always use cubical shape food containers instead of round shape. By using cubical shape containers, it is easy to stack on top of each other and it saves front and side space also. 13. Keep plastic, glass and steel food storage boxes on top of each other with the lid on as when in need you don’t have to fiddle around to find the exact lid of the container. 14. Get section box to keep miscellaneous small items like candles, food sticks, pizza seasoning and ketchup pouches. It will help to keep your drawer organised and items will remain segregated. 15. Must haves in the kitchen are these Ziploc bags and clips. Ziploc bags will help food stay fresh and these clips are very useful to tie opened snack packets and bread. 16. Get a small whiteboard in the kitchen to write your grocery and vegetable shopping list. 17. Get carry bag dispenser to store all those small poly bags which comes with the vegetable, fruits and grocery shopping. 18. Get over the cabinet rack to keep your cleaning supplies. It can be easily fit any cabinet and can be shifted anywhere as per the requirement. 19. Get plastic drawer system to keep small kitchen items segregated. Spider Beer Overview: Making Yeast Produce Black Widow Silk
This week we kick off the start of the spider beer project which is the big genetic engineering project I've been talking about. For this weeks video I'll be going over the whole project and what it's going to take to make it work. The project is relatively straight forward. We'll be taking a silk gene out of black widow spiders, and building a plasmid that makes it express in a species of yeast so that it can be produced en mass easily. This isn't the end of the project though. Once we make it through the above, there are more changes and tweaks we'll be making, but this is the first goal post and will be a major success if it works. Once this plasmid is built it will be released for those interested to play around with and modify for their own projects. In theory the whole procedure will be done in about 2 days once the last of the materials arrive, but since this is biology I'm assuming it'll take far longer to actually succeed. And when all's said and done, I'm planning to write a paper on all of this with my collaborator and publish it in a peer reviewed journal. Once I'm comfortable working with these silk sequences we'll explore silks from other species like spider mites, and may eventually move past yeast and start modifying silk worms to produce these silks instead of their native variants. We'll also explore extracting and spinning fibers from the silk we produce in yeast.
